Why Language Courses are Great While Travelling

Travelling abroad has never been as popular as what it is today and every year more and more people book to go on holiday to some far away destination. Among the most popular destinations are America, Australia, Canada, Spain, Germany, France and Greece. Travelling to countries that speak English such as America doesn’t cause any problems with communication but anyone taking a vacation in countries such as Germany need to know a little of the language spoken there. By taking German lessons (Deutschunterricht) before travelling they will find the simple phrases and words that they learn very useful indeed. Some people learn German at school so will not have any problems. For the majority of people however, they will need to attend language courses (Sprachkurse) if they want to become fluent and speak German as second tongue.
A lot of countries teach English as a second language to children from an early age. Young people in Germany usually understand a little English but the older people will not have learnt it when they went to school. In England different languages are usually taught when pupils enter their teens but it is not compulsory. Anyone wishing to learn a different language can choose from Spanish, French, German, Italian and even Russian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_language. The opportunity is always there to learn with some people learning two or even three different languages. People who have booked a foreign holiday often join a short language course before they travel and learn a little of the language. People can teach themselves at home by listening to CD’s and reading books that accompany them. By gaining a little knowledge of the country as well as learning the language communication is much easier and the holiday more enjoyable.
Travelling abroad has become more popular since the introduction of package holidays and budget airlines. Years ago only the very wealthy people could afford a foreign holiday but all that has changed. Today people are able to book cheap flights over the Internet with companies such as BmyBaby, Ryan air and Easy Jet. They can also book their accommodation cheaply this way or find accommodation when arriving at their destination. Holidays abroad at the moment are more expensive because of the exchange rate. The Euro is almost equivalent to the pound so prices have soared. Because of this and the recession a lot of English people have decided to holiday at home this year. When the weather is nice there is no where better or greener than England with beautiful places to visit. London has thousands of visitors each year eager to see the many famous attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.
